While we do agree that there shouldn't be just one day in a year to honour your mother and show her how much you love her, there's nothing to stop you from increasing your efforts on Mother's Day to show dear Ma a good time!

To kick off the year, we gathered up our talented teachers from across the country for a weekend of fun and excitement (oh and some work too, I guess?!) at the Polestars 2010 Annual General Meeting. We braved the chilly winds outside for a day of Parkour, or as you might have heard it called before – free running.

 

Parkour combines elements of running, gymnastics, dance, and martial arts into a breathtaking—and sometimes dangerous!—way of moving from place to place. The general idea is to move quickly and gracefully, treating whatever objects you come across as elements in an obstacle course. Lead by the handsome fellas at Parkour Generations the day saw us jumping over walls, swinging from handrails and bouncing through buildings (and left us with surprisingly few bruises and scrapes). When you sign on for any of our intermediate pole dancing courses, you’ll receive a bottle of liquid chalk – better known as pole grip – absolutely free (worth £10)! Our liquid chalk is a must for those who want to practice their skills without the worry of loosing grip, allowing you to better concentrate on those trickier twists and spins.

 

 

 

 

Polestars Hula Hooping teacher Tracey will be joining Hula Hoops & Sports Relief on Sunday 21st March in an attempt to set a new world record of people hula hooping across the UK at the same time. With 16 key cities across the UK, the Hoopathons will start at midday sharp, and all participants will need to hula with their hoops around their waists for 2 minutes without dropping the hoop. Burly- Q Revue is a part of a decadent evening of burlesque and pin-up lovelies, in support of the charity CLIC Sargent - Caring for Children and Young People with Cancer.

Check out this video below showcasing our burlesque performance course students ‘Santa’s Sexy Little Helpers’. Led by Polestars teacher Tempest Rose, this luscious troupe strutted across the stage and tantalised crowds with their saucy routine. Well done ladies, you certainly spiced up the festive season for us!

 

Southampton girls - Our next burlesque performance course is scheduled to start in Southampton on the 15th of March @ Dockgate 4, 7pm-9pm.

 

 

 

 

We’ve been working hard this month, to bring you greater availability of our much loved musical theatre parties - Dirty Dancing, Grease and Chicago. You’ve all seen the movies and sung along – now its time to learn the dances! Available in most cities.

 

 

 

 

If you’re free on Saturday afternoon 27th February, then head down to the Pigalle Club, Piccadilly for a burlesque parade of fairtrade pants, a belly full of laughs, fairtrade tea and pie! Pants to Poverty have teamed up with the Co-Operative and Time for Tease troupe to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight in style. A gorgeous 90 minute burlesque performance in one of London's coolest clubs for just £13.50 with every penny going to fund a new programme to take kids out of child labour and into school? Amazing! You should really be there!

 

Diva Hollywood will be fluttering her fans as The Black Swan, Violet Crumble shows off her ball skills in Game, Set & Match, Kiki Kaboom will be taking her own watercolour challenge while Mysti Vine entertains and dazzles with a classic balloon pop! Marianne Cheesecake will be doing her best Charlie Chaplin homage too.
