Edinburgh city guide
Edinburgh City Guide –
With a rich history, stunning architecture and a choice selection of bars, clubs and restaurants, Edinburgh is a fantastic location for any hen party. Edinburgh castle offers superb views and as its history is Edinburgh’s history a tour will give you a real feel for the city. Hop on and off bus tours are a great way to explore the city without tiring out your feet (as you’ll need those for your Polestars hen party!) Once you’ve soaked up the culture why not soak up some cocktails in one of Edinburgh’s wide selection of bars.
Cargo has a beautiful waterside location with funky lighting, a vibrant ambience and matching multi-coloured cocktails. For a slightly more sophisticated feel try Tigerlily whose trained mixologists are on hand to make you your perfect cocktail. Alternatively one of our Cocktail Making lessons gives a more hands-on approach by teaching you how to make, and design, your very own cocktails.
Having tried one of Polestars’ Dance Hen Party Ideas why not give Scotland’s traditional ceilidh dancing a try? Happening all over Edinburgh, ceilidhs are not for the faint hearted; an energetic form of dance that’s more about having fun than any actual dancing ability (just like Polestars hen parties), they’re a great way to get in the mood for a night on the town.
And what a town! Edinburgh offers all the nightlife a hen could ever want; for live music Cabaret Voltaire is the place to be, hosting around 30 gigs a month. ‘Vegas’ night with its emphasis on 40s rat pack and Hollywood style, is the perfect place to show off your new moves after one of our Burlesque hen parties or Chicago hen parties, injecting a bit of glamour into an otherwise ordinary night out.
If you’re interested in Burlesque try the Fanteaseya Burlesque club at Teviot House with live jazz and a fabulous burlesque show. And if that tickles your fancy why not try one of our Burlesque courses and put on a performance yourself. Also check out Miss Lily White and Boobytrap, her lingerie shop and café. Serving champagne tea, delightful cakes and stocking curve enhancing lingerie let Boobytrap help you take a bit of Burlesque home with you.
As well as all that, every August Edinburgh plays host to the fringe festival displaying up and coming talents in everything from comedy to dance, theatre and music – even with a bit of opera! Everyone from Rhod Gilbert, Russell Howard and Jimmy Carr to Dizzee Rascal have played here. If comedy’s your thing The Stand also offer free comedy on a Sunday lunchtime; the perfect way to laugh off Saturday’s hen hangover.
