
Can Can Tips!
Feeling nervous about starting your can-can lessons? Don’t panic, our head teacher of can can, Liza Mortimer, has some top tips to get you through your first can can class!
- Polestars can-can classes are high impact cardiovascular fun workouts in a fantastic group environment.
- No previous can-can dancing or dancing experience is necessary. Polestars can-can lessons are suitable for all levels.
- Be prepared for lots of giggling and shrieking during your cancan lessons.
- Always warm up properly - this is imperative and Polestars have a through warm up session in their can can tasters and can-can courses. Do all the stretches during the warm up and warm down provided otherwise you will have very stiff muscles the next day.
- Hold your tummy in when kicking, this protects your back and strengthens the core muscles.
- Point your toes - this lengthens the leg and enhances your flexibility.
- Really get into character - add extra things to your costume, i.e. ribbons or chokers round the neck / feathers in the hair / garters on the legs - this will really increase your confidence.
- Hold your head up high and really over exaggerate the moves - this may feel silly at first but the whole style of the can-can dance is about showing off!
